So you’ve decided to embrace your inner Super Lady! SLF is always glad to welcome new members of the team, but we are also very transparent about the fact that our organization is selective. This is not to be exclusive or elitist, but to provide unparalleled suspension of disbelief for children in need, and maintain a strict standard of professionalism. That being said, we still have fun! Super Ladies Foundation is a great way for local costumers to give back to their community in a unique and meaningful way that empowers both ourselves and the people around us.

The team at Super Ladies Foundation regularly works with various organizations and events ranging from walks and rallies to hospital and women's shelter visits. Some of our events include working with vulnerable populations and require a sensitive and gentle approach.

  • No prior convictions of violent crimes or cases that included minors

An approvable kit (wardrobe, accessories, footwear, hair/wig, makeup) MUST:

  • Present a MINIMUM quality standard of those seen on character actors at Disney parks, and strive to be as close to replica as possible

  • Represent the primary outfit of a distinctly identifiable character who has appeared either in a movie or television (comic-only characters/outfits will be considered on a case-by-case basis and under EXTREME scrutiny)

  • Be either custom made or tailored to your measurements

Membership Disclaimers

SLF does not discriminate on the basis of gender, religious presentation, weight, or race when it comes to membership or character selection. Comfort and inclusion are important to us as individuals and as an organization. However, we do have two important tenets we ask applicants to keep in mind:

First, please use your best judgement when selecting which characters you would like to represent. We do what we do at SLF for children in our community who are most in need of heroes, and as such we must put our egos aside to provide the best suspension of disbelief possible. The MCU and DCU are becoming wider and more diverse in terms of skin tone, body type, and age with each film, and if you are unsure or undecided about a potential costume, we are happy to assist! That being said, the costuming committee will NEVER turn down a kit because you are not a “lookalike” of a given character and will NEVER condone the altering of skin color.

Second, Super Ladies Foundation is not limited to just ladies! We are also thrilled to take on male, masculine-identified, non-binary, and genderfluid applicants so everyone can see their favorite heroes in action. If you fall into one of these categories and would like to be involved, just remember to be patient when it comes to mission assignments, as some require an exclusively female/femme-presenting team. There are vulnerable populations who are not comfortable with a male presence due to past trauma, and we want to provide safe, comforting, and empowering experiences for children in those situations.

Behind the Scenes Help

Don’t feel comfortable suiting up, but still want to be an official Super Lady? That’s okay! SLF is always in need of handlers and support staff.

A handler’s responsibilities include:

  • Accompanying heroes on missions

  • Organizing any lines that may form to talk to heroes

  • Offering photo opportunities to shy individuals

  • Taking pictures to document SLF’s involvement in an event

  • Carrying a backpack or small bag with necessities like a sewing kit, snacks, water, marketing materials, and basic first aid

  • Handing out business cards and flyers

  • Being the first line of defense against individuals who are hostile, aggressive, or belligerent toward heroes

Support staff will sometimes be needed for events hosted by SLF, and include duties such as:

  • Manning tables or booths at conventions

  • Managing raffles and silent auctions at fundraisers

  • Providing customer support and check ins for ticketed events

  • Working on tasks such as decorating, gift assembly, thank you cards, etc.

Our handler and support staff roles are far less selective, and as such do not require the same intensive application process. Feel free to reach out to us via social media or email if you are interested!
